ASAB was founded in 1936 to promote the study of animal behaviour
Membership is open to all who share our interests. There are now around 1000 members, the majority drawn from Britain and Europe. Many members are professional biologists who work in universities, research institutes, and schools.
ASAB is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community, and aims to ensure fair and equitable representation and participation throughout all of ASAB’s activities and in the wider animal behaviour research community, irrespective of characteristics including but not limited to age, disability, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.

EDIA
The role of the EDIA Committee is to provide leadership for ASAB and its members, to encourage learning, discussion and understanding about EDIA, and provide support and opportunities to underrepresented groups
Ethics
ASAB has a long-standing concern for the treatment of animals in research and teaching. We believe that it is our responsibility to minimise any possible suffering and to support the conservation of the animals we study. ASAB produces ethical guidelines for animal behaviour research.
Journal
Animal Behaviour, the journal of ASAB and the Animal Behavior Society, publishes critical reviews, original papers, and research articles on all aspects of animal behaviour.
